Could you survive a fall from 31,000ft such as Lockerbie?

I have become really interested in the lockerbie bombing as sombre as it may seem what seems to be an issue for me is understanding whether or not you could survive, it is well doented that people did one such woman who had a pulse but tragically ped away ten minutes later. I want to focus on the pit where the pilots still strapped to their seats where found, surely due to the fact that that part of the aircraft remained in tact that could have survived. I know they would have lost consciousness due to the altitude of where the plane broke up but where there bodies still fully identifiable and by sheer chance could they have survived such a fall? would they have had bad whiplash when it impacted the ground?
