My friend died but I have yet to find out why?

My friend died on Sunday and I just found out yesterday. I heard from a friend that the cause of death was ruled a suicide but shes not for sure on that. However, I along with a few other people believe its true if that's what they ruled. Steve wasn't a suicidal person, its just not like him at all. What concerns us is that the night before/earlier that day he was at a party and sent a text message to a friend saying that his roomie who was at the party with him (who has been in jail a few times and isn't the greatest person to be around) had done something unforgivable or unrespectable, i don't remember which he said in the message, and that was the last thing anyone heard from him. Anyway, I have to go to his calling hours tomorrow night but I've never met his family before and I don't feel that its right to ask them how he died and it wasn't in the obituary. So - How do I find out?
