Why is there a difference in the thickness of the walls of the two ventricles?

the left ventricle is thicker because it needs to pump blood to just about the entire body, the right ventricle only pumps blood to the lungs so that it can be reoxygenated. Obviously not as much pressure is needed on the right side of the heart, so the walls are thinner.
