Question about learning the guitar?

I have an acoustic-electric guitar. I'm considering buying an electric guitar to go along with it. I want to learn to play both acoustically and electrically, and I thought that maybe having both to learn and practice on would be helpful. But what is your opinion? Is it really worth having two different kinds to learn on or is it not going to make much of a difference and I should save my money?
